Automatic Plant Watering Kit – Soil Moisture Sensor & Mini Water Pump
The Automatic Plant Watering Kit is a DIY electronics project kit designed for Arduino projects, STEM education, robotics, electronics training, and makers. It allows you to build a simple automatic plant irrigation system that detects soil moisture and activates a water pump when the soil becomes dry.
The kit uses a soil moisture sensor to detect the amount of water in the soil. The sensor's electrical conductivity changes according to the moisture level, allowing the control module to determine whether the soil is wet or dry.
When the soil is sufficiently dry, the relay module can activate the included mini DC water pump to supply water to the plant. This makes the kit ideal for learning about sensors, relays, automation, Arduino, and basic control systems.
How the Soil Moisture Sensor Works
The fork-shaped soil moisture probe has two conductive electrodes. The electrical resistance between the electrodes changes depending on the amount of moisture in the soil:
- Wet soil: Higher conductivity and lower resistance.
- Dry soil: Lower conductivity and higher resistance.
The sensor module converts this change into an electrical signal that can be used to detect the soil moisture condition and control the irrigation system.
Kit Applications
This soil moisture sensor and automatic watering kit can be used for:
- Automatic plant watering projects
- Arduino irrigation systems
- Soil moisture detection
- Smart gardening projects
- DIY electronics projects
- STEM and educational experiments
- Robotics and automation training
- Arduino sensor projects
- Electronics and embedded systems learning
Package Contents
- 1 × Relay Module
- 1 × Soil Moisture Sensor Probe + Comparison/Control Module
- 1 × Mini DC Water Pump
- 1 × 1-Meter Water Hose
Important Notes
- The water pump should not be operated dry for an extended period.
- During initial testing, the pump may remain ON when the sensor probe is not inserted into moist soil. This is because the probe cannot detect sufficient moisture when it is exposed to air.
- For DIY assembly, make sure the wires are properly connected and insulated before powering the system.
- Keep the electronic control modules protected from direct contact with water.
Ideal For
This Automatic Plant Watering DIY Kit is suitable for students, makers, Arduino beginners, robotics academies, schools, universities, electronics labs, and anyone interested in building practical automation projects.
